  1. Connection Fees & Policies

    As a rural Cooperative, Empire Electric exists to provide electric services to its members. Membership in the Cooperative is open to all persons able to use Empire Electric's services and willing to accept the responsibilities of membership.

    There is no charge for membership in Empire Electric Association, Inc., but an applicant must sign a membership application to receive electric services and be eligible for member benefits



    We're happy to connect electrical service for our Members.

    Connect Fees

    Connect fees are charged to recover costs of new account setup, labor charges, mileage, etc.

    $20.00 service connects weekdays during normal working hours
    $45.00 after hours weekdays or on weekends and holidays

    Billing Deposit (Minimum)

    $150.00 Non-All Electric/Residential
    $375.00 All Electric/Residential
    Credit Check Confirmation (in lieu of Deposit) for first time residential accounts
    3rd Party Guarantee (lieu of Deposit)
    Deposit refundable after 12 month credit history is established
    Commercial/Large Power deposit based on 3 month estimated billing
    Bank Letter of Credit


    Third Party Notification

    This information is used to notify a third party, before discontinuance of service when the Customer cannot be notified. This notification does not apply when a power theft has been discovered on the Customer's premises, or where use of electrical service is dangerous for occupants of the premises. In these cases, immediate discontinuance of service is imperative.

    For your convenience, Empire Electric provides a "Third Party Notification" form for all Customers. If a Customer wants to have a third party notified in the event of possible discontinuance of service, they are responsible for signing and returning the notification form to Empire Electric.

    New Line Construction

    If you need a new electric service built or modified, contact Empire's Engineering Department. We will meet with you to review your needs and reach agreement about the kind of powerline construction that will be needed. Individual services are tailored to individual needs.

    Contact us early with your construction or remodeling plans. Empire's Engineering's Direct Dial number is (970) 564-4455. The typical process from first meeting until turning the power on for a new service will be at least one month.
